# History

> The saved crawls of the open crawl's site. A trend shows one number across them; pick an older crawl as A and a newer one as B to see which pages appeared, went missing or changed, and which checks got better or worse.

## On the screen

![The History view of GLLmolfar with 5 saved crawls of getlooploop.com](https://www.getlooploop.com/images/gllmolfar/docs/history.webp)

Numbered parts of the screenshot:

1. **Site and count.** The site and how many crawls of it are saved.
2. **Trend.** One number across the crawls, oldest to newest, and whether it got better or worse.
3. **Select and delete.** **Select all**, **Delete selected (N)** and **Delete all except the open one (N)**.
4. **Saved crawls.** One row per crawl. **Older (A)** and **Newer (B)** pick the two to compare.
5. **Pick A.** With only B picked, the comparison waits: **Pick an older crawl as A.** Once both are picked, it appears here.
6. **History in the rail.** Under **Projects**, with the number of saved crawls of the open site.

## Trend

Pick the number: **Health**, **URLs**, **Errors** (the default), **Non-indexable**, **Problems to fix** or **Topics**. A dot is a crawl; a larger dot is the open one. The right side says **Better: {from} → {to}**, **Worse: {from} → {to}** or **No change**, from the first crawl to the last.

## Saved crawls

| Column | What it shows |
| --- | --- |
| Checkbox | Selects the crawl for **Delete selected (N)**. **Tick scans to delete several at once**; when some are ticked, **Selected N of M** and **Clear selection**. |
| Older (A) | The crawl to compare from. |
| Newer (B) | The crawl to compare with. The open crawl is B when the tab opens. |
| Started | When the crawl started; **open now** marks the open crawl. |
| URLs | Addresses fetched. |
| Embedded | Pages embedded for topics. |
| Errors | Addresses that answered with an error; red above zero. |
| Non-indexable | Pages kept out of search. |
| No title | Pages without a title. |
| State | **complete**, **stopped**, **failed**, **interrupted** or **running**. |
| Bin | **Delete this scan**. |

## Comparing two crawls

| Block | What it shows |
| --- | --- |
| Comparing {a} (A) with {b} (B). | The dates of the two crawls. |
| Counts | **New URLs**, **Not in the newer crawl** with a count per reason, **Changed pages**, and one count per changed field. |
| Changed pages | Per page: **Status**, **Title**, **Meta description**, **H1**, **Canonical**, **Indexability**, **Word count** and **Meaning** that changed, as before → after. Meaning says **The text now means something different (similarity N)**. |
| New URLs | URLs crawled in B and not in A. |
| Not in the newer crawl | URLs crawled in A and not in B, each with its reason, and **Check these URLs now (N)**. |
| Checks between the two crawls | Each check with **A** and **B** (URLs it flags in each), **Fixed** and **New**. A number under Fixed or New exports those URLs. |
| Export | **Export lost URLs (in A, not in B)** and **Export found URLs (new in B)**. |

| Reason a URL is not in the newer crawl | Meaning |
| --- | --- |
| not reached (limit or still linked) | The newer crawl did not get to it. |
| no longer linked, not checked | Nothing links to it any more. |
| checked: still live | **Check these URLs now** found it answering. |
| checked: removed (404/410) | It is gone. |
| checked: redirects | It moved. |
| checked: error or no answer | It failed when checked. |

> **Missing is not deleted.** **Missing from a crawl does not mean deleted. Check these URLs to see which really return 404 or 410.** When the newer crawl stopped at its limit or was stopped, the note says many were simply not reached.

**Checks between the two crawls** leaves out the checks that need topics, embeddings or the sitemap scan, since older crawls may not have them. Fixed: flagged in A, still crawled in B and no longer flagged. New: flagged in B but not in A.

## States and messages

- **No site** — the app says: "Crawl a site to start its history." No crawl is open.
- **One crawl** — the app says: "Two crawls of the same site are needed to compare." Only one crawl of the site is saved.
- **No A** — the app says: "Pick an older crawl as A." No crawl older than B is picked.
- **Short trend** — the app says: "This number is known for fewer than two crawls. Health, problems and topics are saved when a crawl is opened in 0.7 or later." Pick another number, or open older crawls once.
- **Partial trend** — the app says: "N older crawls have no value for this number: open them once to fill it in." The line leaves those crawls out.
- **Long lists** — the app says: "Long lists are cut to the first 500 rows; the counts above are complete." Use the export buttons for the full lists.
- **No changes** — the app says: "No changes in the compared fields." Nothing in the compared fields changed between A and B.
- **Delete** — the app says: "Delete this saved crawl?" Asks first: **Its pages and embeddings are removed from this computer. This cannot be undone.** Several at once: **Delete N saved scans?**
- **Busy** — the app says: "Stop the running crawl first." The crawl that is running cannot be deleted.
